Dr. Mina Abdelshahed is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon dedicated to providing exceptional orthopedic care to patients throughout New Jersey. A native of Union, NJ, Dr. Abdelshahed combines advanced surgical expertise with a strong commitment to serving the community where he was raised. He specializes in shoulder and elbow surgery, orthopedic trauma, sports medicine, fracture care, and general orthopedics, offering both surgical and non-surgical treatment options tailored to each patient’s needs.
Dr. Abdelshahed graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers University with a degree in Biological Sciences and a minor in Psychology before earning his Doctor of Medicine degree from Rutgers University–New Jersey Medical School. During medical school, he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in recognition of his academic excellence and leadership.
He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Rutgers University–New Jersey Medical School, where he was selected as Administrative Chief Resident and trained alongside nationally recognized orthopedic specialists. His extensive trauma experience was gained at University Hospital, one of the busiest Level I Trauma Centers in the Tri-State Area, preparing him to manage complex orthopedic injuries and fractures. Dr. Abdelshahed was also recognized for his dedication to medical education, earning multiple nominations for the Golden Apple Resident Teaching Award and receiving the Orthopedic Resident Teaching Award upon graduation.
To further advance his expertise, Dr. Abdelshahed completed a prestigious Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Fellowship at New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases. This advanced training provided comprehensive experience in treating shoulder, elbow, and upper extremity conditions, including sports injuries, rotator cuff tears, arthritis, instability, fractures, and other complex orthopedic disorders.
